Cruising the Oise: From the Swiss Ruby’s First Voyage to Tomorrow’s Route to Amsterdam

Between 2017 and 2018, the river cruise ship SWISS RUBY, now renamed VIVA RUBY, made history as the first cruise vessel to navigate the Oise River, linking Saint-Mammès to Compiègne. Measuring 85 meters long, equipped with 40 outside cabins for up to 80 passengers, it marked a pioneering moment for tourism in the region.

Onboard: a cozy and refined atmosphere, panoramic lounge, flexible dining hours, library, sundeck… all tailored for an intimate, culturally rich cruise experience. This first-of-its-kind gentle navigation through the Impressionist landscapes of the Oise Valley offered guests an unforgettable immersion in a territory steeped in history and art.

“Cruising through Auvers-sur-Oise felt like stepping into a living Van Gogh painting. A rare and moving experience.”
— Claire M., Swiss Ruby passenger (2018)

Stops in Auvers-sur-Oise, the Château de Chantilly, Royaumont Abbey, and the Château de Compiègne revealed the Oise Valley as an exceptional cultural and natural cruise destination.
